Designs are chemically etched onto thin sheets of brass, creating shallow recesses which are filled with soft enamel colors (PMS matched) and baked dry. It has a similar appearance to die struck pins, but is thinner and more economical.

A mold is made of the design. Hot zinc is then poured into the mold. Once cooled, it is removed, cleaned up, and polished. Enamel color-fill can be added.
Great for any design with multiple cutouts, letters, or intricate 3D designs.
